In this photographic work, my subject is my dog, a beloved companion who embodies the essence of everyday moments that often go unnoticed. To bring out a more evocative portrayal, I utilized Adobe Lightroom for editing. The process involved a comprehensive set of adjustments, including modifications to white, black, and highlight levels, as well as changes to temperature, exposure, contrast, tint, and vibrance. Additionally, I explored various presets to further refine the image.

In this portrait series of my classmate Max, I used rim lighting, backlighting, and bottom lighting to explore different emotional expressions.

Rim Lighting
I placed a soft light behind and above Max to create a halo effect around his figure. This lighting gave Max an almost angelic and refined appearance.

Backlighting
With the light positioned directly behind Max, his silhouette emerged against a dark background. This setup created a mysterious and eerie vibe, obscuring his features.

Bottom Lighting
By placing the light source beneath Max, I cast upward shadows that exaggerated his facial features. This technique produced a devious and unsettling mood.

Each lighting technique was chosen to highlight different facets of Max’s persona, demonstrating how light can shape the mood and impact of a portrait.
