Sublimation is a digital process that uses a combination of heat, pressure, and time to transfer dye onto a surface, creating a permanent and vibrant design. For this project, I used the sublimation method to create a custom mug featuring Calcifer, the beloved fire demon from Howl’s Moving Castle.

To complete the process, I set the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and timed it for 200 seconds. These specific conditions allowed the dye to fully infuse into the mug’s surface, resulting in a high-quality and durable image.

The final product turned out amazing—bright, detailed, and absolutely adorable. I’m proud of how the design captured Calcifer’s quirky and fiery personality, and it was exciting to see my digital artwork come to life on a physical object. This project was not only fun but also a great introduction to the creative possibilities of sublimation.
